PE and Sport Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

We believe that giving children an outstanding PE experience is a vital part of children’s physical, emotional and social development. We work hard to ensure that our PE curriculum is varied, developmental, exciting and inclusive.  We take part in football, hockey, tennis, tag rugby, gymnastics, athletics, dance, speed-stacking, circuit training, cross country and many other sports. We actively encourage sports clubs to come into school to introduce children to different sports, as well as running regular extra-curricular clubs with professional coaches after school. Through our School Council, we gain children’s feedback on the quality of our PE and listen to their ideas about which sports they would like to try.  We employ a sports coach to work alongside teachers to improve the teachers’ skills and the quality of our provision.

Extra-curricular clubs

We have fantastic professional coaches running some of our extra-curricular clubs.  All children in Years 1 and 2 are offered the opportunity to participate in clubs after school, with many of our children choosing to attend one of the sports clubs. Children can participate in football, tennis, multi-sports and gymnastics. Clubs are fully inclusive and available to all pupils in Years 1 and 2.

Partnerships with external sports clubs

We firmly believe that there is a sport for everyone and that it is an important part of our role to introduce children to as wide a range of sports as possible.  We aim to invite a number of external sports clubs into school to give the children taster sessions to see if the children enjoy the sport and would be interested in taking it up outside of school.

Awards and Achievements

As part of the Chelmsford School Sports Partnership, we regularly compete in competitions such as: cross-country, gymnastics, mini-games, 3-Tees Cricket and Tag-Rugby, reaching county finals on a number of occasions in recent years.
