Admissions
If you are considering Oaklands for future years, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
If you wish to view the school for September 2025 entry, we will be holding tours in the Autumn term.
Admission Arrangements
If you are considering Oaklands for your child, please do come and see the school in action. We will be holding regular tours for parents considering admission in the next academic year throughout the autumn term, so please do telephone to book on to a tour. There will be an opportunity at the end of each tour to speak to one of our senior leaders if you have specific questions relating to your child’s needs. We look forward to seeing you.
Please see our Admissions Policy below for further details.
If your child is due to start school and already has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), the process of selecting a school is linked to your child’s statement or EHCP. A consultation with the Statutory Assessment Service, schools and parents will take place and a school will be named in the statement or EHCP. You should not make an application for a primary school place.
If your child is in the process of being considered for an EHCP you should still make an application through the reception admission round process. However, please email admissions@essex.gov.uk to inform them your child is going through this process.
Applications for School Places Outside the Normal Admissions Round (Mid-year Admissions)
Please note that there is a variation to our determined Admission Policy for 2021-22 from 1 April 2022.
From 1 April 2022 any mid-year applications must be made directly to the school. if there are any spaces in the year group an offer will be made.
All mid-year applications should be made directly to the school, using the mid-year application form available below, or via the school office.
Mid-Year applications (sometimes called in-year applications) are any application for a school place made to a year group, apart from September admissions to Reception (primary and infant schools)/Year 3 (Junior Schools).
For applications into existing year groups, a place will be offered when the number of pupils in the relevant year group is below the admission number for that year group.
Please note: If a mid-year application is received during a school holiday period, we will respond as soon as possible when the school reopens.

OAKLANDS INFANT SCHOOL:
SCHOOL ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS FOR 2028-2029
Bridge Academy Trust is the admission authority for Oaklands Infant School.
The admission authority is consulting on the school’s proposed admission arrangements for 2028–2029 in accordance with paragraph 1.45 of the School Admissions Code.
Admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every seven years, even where no changes are proposed. Oaklands Infant School has retained the same admission arrangements for seven years without consultation and is therefore undertaking this statutory consultation.
No changes are proposed to the admission arrangements for 2028–2029. The purpose of this consultation is to give parents, carers, other admission authorities and interested parties an opportunity to comment on the existing arrangements.
Consultation process
The consultation will run from 16th October 2026 to 3rd December 2026.
If you wish to comment on the proposed admission arrangements, please submit your response in writing during the consultation period. Following the consultation, the admission authority will consider all responses received before determining the final admission arrangements by 28th February 2027. The determined arrangements will be published on the school’s website by 15th March 2027.
How to respond
Please send any comments in writing to the Governance Professional by email at clerk@bridgeacademytrust.org or by post to: Governance Professional, Community Building, Bridge Academy Trust, Brian Close, Chelmsford, CM2 9DZ.
